2018 Château de la Crée, Maranges En Goty 750ml
The Maranges region, which grows mainly Pinot Noir and a small bit of Chardonnay, was granted its own AOC Village in 1988. Its vineyards are adjacent to those of neighboring Santenay and link the Côte-d’Or and the Saône-et-Loire with which it shares some highly regarded Premiers Crus.
A deep ruby red, the 2018 Maranges shows aromatic intensity of red fruit and peppercorn. On the palate, dark and expressive characteristics of savory clove and ripe dark cherry are enveloped by firm, round tannins. An excellent food pairing wine with a lingering finish, it is very approachable now but will be a rewarding cellar addition.
