APPELLATION AND VINEYARDS
The fame of the Chassagne-Montrachet subregion derives from its close proximity to the most famous Chardonnay Vineyard in the World, the legendary Le Montrachet. The Morgeot vineyard is the largest of Chassagne-Montrachet’s Premier Cru vineyards. Based upon Bathonian limestone, its predominantly clay subsoil is free-draining and encourages deep root growth to access the mineral-rich water below ground. Our small parcel of very old vines, many planted 60 years ago, enjoys an excellent southeast exposure and deep drainage, giving birth to wines of remarkable intensity and body.
The growing season progressed very quickly in the 2015 vintage. Flowering started in early June and was followed shortly thereafter by veraison in mid-July. The beginning of harvest came very early and we were picking beautifully set grape clusters by the end of August. The warm weather dictated the tempo and led to magnificent grapes - the foundation of a great wine.
This compelling and classic White Burgundy displays extremely expressive aromatics of pear, honeysuckle and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is round and generous, with intense notes of citrus and focused minerality that one expects from top-tiered Chassagne-Montrachet. The silky texture builds toward a lush, lingering finish.
