2017 Maison Evenstad, Pommard Les Petits Noizons Pinot Noir
Pommard is known for powerful, richly flavored Pinot Noir. Above the village at 1,100 feet in elevation sits the vineyard of Les Petits Noizons. It faces south and features white marl and limestone soil. Les Petits Noizons is regarded as a leading Pommard vineyard by Burgundy aficionados. Château de la Crée’s small block of dry-farmed 35-year-old vines utilizes biodynamic practices that deliver unusually pure terroir expression.
Complex aromatics of summer berries and ripe plum leap from the glass, while the palate is refined and harmonious. Notes of cocoa give way to fine tannins and a supple mouthfeel. The overall impression is one of power and finesse, as the long finish leaves no doubt that this is a wine which will age gracefully
and reward time in the cellar.
