• Travelling by trains & subways is recommended only for seasoned travelers familiar with navigating train stations and carrying luggage.
• It is polite to keep conversations at a very low volume on trains & subways.
• Driving in France is similar to driving in the U.S. as both countries drive on the right side of the road. Note that rental cars often come with a manual transmission; you can request an automatic if preferred.
• It is recommended to research international data plans with your phone carrier. Adding this allows you to use navigation apps (such as Google Maps) with ease throughout your trip.
We recommend considering the following items when packing for your trip:
- Travel adapter for electrical outlets (+ voltage converter, when necessary)
- Tip: Most items, such as cell phones and laptops, only require a simple travel adapter. A voltage converter is only necessary for certain shavers or heated styling tools.
- Boots or sneakers that can get dirty while exploring vineyards
- Sweater (even during warmer months), as some winery cellar tours can be chilly
- Semi-formal dinner attire, if dining at a Michelin restaurant
- For Men: Dress shoes, a collared shirt, and a jacket.
- For Women: Heels or elegant flats, paired with a skirt, dress, slacks, blouse, and either a sweater, jacket, or shawl.

Yes. We recommend arranging one main restaurant reservation each day, with lighter dining plans for other meals. A large lunch and a large dinner on the same day can sometimes be too much food and time. You can expect dining experiences to last about 2 hours for lunches and 3 hours for dinners. As a courtesy to our esteemed restaurant partners, we kindly request that all dinner reservations be honored. In France, reservations are thoughtfully accounted for, and late cancellations are regarded as discourteous. Should your plans change, please provide 1-2 days' notice.
We highly recommend renting a vehicle or pre-arranging car services for the duration of your stay. Château de la Crée does not have a shuttle service, and rideshares (such as Uber) do not operate in this area. When it comes time to plan your itinerary with the team in France, they will be happy to assist in car service arrangements upon request.
While all Château reservations require a two-night minimum, many Members choose to maximize flexibility by using the second night strategically.
You may reserve the night prior to your arrival to enjoy early check-in at any time on your arrival day, or reserve the night following your stay to extend your departure and enjoy a relaxed afternoon check-out.
Our Membership team is happy to help you structure your stay in the way that best suits your travel plans.
