2017 Vintage Retrospective Collection

At first, 2017 looked like an extreme opposite to 2016, with very late budbreak and bloom following a wet rainy season. However, abnormally warm and dry months then took over, and the heat gave full ripeness to the fruit despite a large crop load. September brought two inches of rain, coinciding with cooling weather, which preserved the acid brightness. Normal harvest timing and excellent picking weather yielded complexity along with the riper favors.

This balance of ripe fruit and retained acidity is ideal for Chardonnay, providing the structure, texture, and energy needed to evolve gracefully over time. In 2017, the wines show depth without heaviness and brightness without sharpness, making them especially compelling as aged expressions.
