Winemaker Letter
This fall allocation is the highlight of our year. Every season we curate it with focus and passion, knowing that these wines will exist only for the Cellar Society and nowhere else. They are crafted with intention from the very beginning and chosen to embody the spirit of this membership.
This season, we are proud to share two remarkable cuvées from the world-renowned Hospices de Beaune. Since 1443, its vineyards have produced some of Burgundy’s most treasured wines, offered only once a year at their historic charity auction. Taking part in this centuries-old tradition is a privilege we do not take lightly, and each year we select rare barrels with our Cellar Society members in mind.
The 2022 Volnay Premier Cru Rouge Cuvée Blondeau was selected for its elegance and finesse, a wine that shows lifted aromatics, silken texture, and refined structure. Bottled exclusively for the Cellar Society, it is a quintessential expression of Volnay and will reward both early enjoyment and extended aging.
The 2022 Beaune Premier Cru Rouge Clos des Avaux is a first for Domaine Serene and a debut for our members. This walled Premier Cru vineyard, set along the gentle slopes outside Beaune’s historic center, produces Pinot Noir of generosity and depth. With its vibrant red fruit, refined tannins, and graceful balance, Clos des Avaux stood apart at auction as a wine of completeness, showing charm in youth and structure for years to come.
It is an honor to share these wines with you. May they bring joy to your table today and continue to reveal new layers of expression as they evolve in your cellar.
With gratitude,
Michael Fay
