The southernmost village within the Côte d’Or, Santenay is located just south of Chassagne-Montrachet. Santenay’s etymology derives from the Latin word “Sanctus,” implying a place considered sacred even before the Christian era. This ancient village first became famous in Roman times for its hot springs named “Santinae Aquae” (health-giving waters). Clos de la Confrérie is our own unique “Monopole” parcel, nestled in the heart of Santenay-le-Haut. Its western exposure, old vines, and terroir of gravelly clay soil and sandy subsoil produces concentrated Pinot Noirs of great structure and density, with a hallmark spiciness.

The 2017 vintage embodies a depth of purely rich ripe fruit with robust savory notes of tobacco and dried forest leaves. Exquisite layers of spice, white pepper, and clove bring a rich complexity to the elegant dark fruit quality. Muscular with mineral undertones, the wine’s seductive combination of power, mouthwatering acidity, and perfectly integrated tannins work together for a polished, long-lived finish.
