Located between the Hill of Corton and Beaune, the vineyards of Savigny-lès-Beaune carry a storied past, marked by the presence of a grand 14th-century castle that reflects the appellation’s noble heritage. Officially designated as an AOC in 1937, the vineyards range from 250 to 400 meters in elevation and showcase a diversity of soils. The lower slopes contain alluvial deposits from the Rhoin River, while the higher terrain mirrors the geology of the Hill of Corton, featuring gravelly soils and oolitic ironstone. Moving down the slope, the red-brown limestone transitions into clay and pebbly compositions, while the opposite east-facing side reveals limestone soils with traces of sand.

The 2022 vintage opens with aromas of chalk, cranberry, blackberry, and dark fruit. On the palate, the structured profile highlights the influence of the soils, with tea leaf tannins, juicy acidity, and notes of maraschino cherry. A lingering finish carries hints of kalamata olive and chalky limestone, expressing the distinctive character of Savigny-lès-Beaune.
