Introducing the 2022 Mark Bradford Barrel Fermented Pinot Noir. The result of a project that reflects both the pedigree of the Mark Bradford vineyard and a renewed commitment to the traditional techniques that honor the earliest chapters of our estate’s history.

An exceptionally limited release, the 2022 Mark Bradford Barrel Fermented Pinot Noir marks the first time Domaine Serene has explored barrel fermentation for Pinot Noir while returning to the unfined and unfiltered bottling practices that defined many of our early vintages. Crafted from Pommard clone fruit grown on some of the oldest Pinot Noir vines on our estate, the wine reflects the purity, depth, and balance that made the 2022 vintage so compelling. It shows a harmonious balance of power and refinement, lifted energy, and polished structure, offering both immediate presence and the clarity to age beautifully for many years.

Named after Mark Evenstad, son of amazing parents, Grace and Ken Evenstad. Dad of awesome kids. Pictured with vineyard dogs, Smith & Wesson.

The Winemaking Process

The 2022 fruit inspired a meticulous, first-ever approach at Domaine Serene: fermentation entirely inside new French oak barrels. This highly specialized method requires removing a barrel head and placing destemmed fruit directly into the barrel, creating the smallest fermentation vessel in the winery. Each barrel underwent a seven-day cold soak at 45°F before beginning and completing fermentation within the same barrel. The wine was then aged for 18 months in those same exceptionally fine-grained new French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered, echoing the classic character and grace of our earliest wines while capturing the vibrancy and lift of the 2022 harvest.
