Looking downhill through a row of grapes

The 2022 Domaine Serene Grand Cheval has a complex nose of herbaceous notes that mix with red and black currant, which transition into cured meat, savory bacon, and cured olive notes. On the palate, this wine offers a a burst of acid-driven fruit notes of blue and black berry that mix with the spice of and sweetness of candied ginger. The finish leaves a weighty, luscious mouthfeel that creates what winemaker Carl Formaker calls the 'YUM' factor. This wine would be an excellent pairing for a filet mignon or lamb chops with twice-baked potatoes. Overall, an exceptional choice for anyone looking for a rich and luxurious wine experience.

The Story

About ‘Grand Cheval’

Grand Cheval is a cherished cornerstone of Domaine Serene created by our late co-founder Ken Evenstad that honors the legacy of his grandfather, a dedicated immigrant farmer who worked tirelessly alongside his loyal workhorse.

To make Grand Cheval we take the best characteristics of two very different varietals, Syrah from the Walla Walla Valley, and our own Pinot Noir grapes from the Dundee Hills, and blend them in perfect harmony to create our own version of the ideal “steakhouse wine.” This wine is substantial enough for the richest of dishes, yet soft enough to please any palate.
