Winemaker Tasting Notes

The 2023 'Aspect' Chardonnay offers tropical notes of passionfruit, kiwi, and a touch of fresh coconut. This wine strikes perfect harmony between pineapple fruit, minerality, and texture. Enjoy a long finish of caramelized golden apple notes.

About the ‘Aspect’ Collection

Our winemakers created the ‘Aspect’ series to showcase the art of the blend, capturing the terroir synergy from the diverse soils, elevations, orientations, and clonal selections within our vineyard estates. These wines are designed using a blend of grapes from our three highest-elevation estates in the Dundee Hills: the Evenstad Estate, Winery Hill Estate, and Triple Crown Estate, all situated within just a mile of each other. Despite their proximity, the vineyards offer unique characteristics and diversity within each estate that inspire our winemakers.

‘Aspect’ Chardonnay Land

The ‘Aspect’ Chardonnay is thoughtfully crafted from Chardonnay grapes grown in the Winery Hill and Triple Crown Estates, where diverse elevations, orientations, and sun exposures influence the characteristics of the grapes produced.

Winery Hill Estate

Our Winery Hill Vineyard greets guests as they arrive at The Clubhouse at Domaine Serene. It is a dry-farmed, 20-acre site, ranging from 775 to 930 feet in elevation – our highest-elevation Pinot Noir vineyard. Planted in 2000, this south-and-west-facing vineyard is planted exclusively with Dijon clones in Jory soil. The grapes slowly ripen in the cool air above Dundee, allowing for full flavor development and highly complex fruit, thus yielding wines with excellent aging potential, balanced acidity, elegant tannins, and a lingering finish.

Triple Crown Estate

Perched atop the renowned Dundee Hills with striking views of Mount Hood, the Triple Crown Vineyard stands at 745-900 feet in elevation and is deemed the ‘Third Crown of the Dundee Hills.’ This dry-farmed, south-facing vineyard is one of our only vineyard sites dominated by Chardonnay. It is planted with Dijon clones in deep Jory soil, resulting in regal, energetic wines of sophistication, complexity, and distinction.
