Winemaker Letter

Autumn in Burgundy is the season of gathering, when the vineyards and cellar come alive as the fruit of the year finds its way into the winery. This harvest is especially meaningful to me, as it marks my first year serving as Technical Director and the beginning of a new chapter in my work here. In this role, I now guide both the vineyard and winemaking teams, overseeing each vintage from start to finish and bringing a rare continuity to all we make, with one vision carried from soil to glass.

The 2023 season was warm and dry, with low rainfall that required patience and careful thinning to bring the crop into balance. The result was full ripeness without excess, and the wines show concentration, depth, and roundness: Pinot Noir rich and expressive yet smooth, and Chardonnay with breadth balanced by fresh, precise acidity.

Our Domaine Evenstad and Maison Evenstad labels tell two sides of our story. Domaine Evenstad comes from our estates in the Côte de Nuits. Though these historic vineyards have produced wine for generations, this is only the second vintage under our stewardship. These wines are a testament to time, shaped by sites we have tended and refined since they came into our care in 2021. Maison Evenstad is a testament to people, built on relationships with growers I have nurtured over the years, some reaching back to 2018. These partnerships take years of patience and mutual trust to earn, and they are among the work I am most proud of.

As a Fraternité de la Crée member, your allocation draws bottles from both Domaine Evenstad and Maison Evenstad. From the Côte de Nuits come estate Pinot Noirs with structure, depth, and a distinct sense of place. From the Côte de Beaune come the supple reds of Savigny and Beaune, alongside Chardonnay from Meursault and Montagny. Together, these wines offer a focused yet expressive view of Burgundy, from the firm, stony reds of the Côte de Nuits to the broader, more generous expressions of the Côte de Beaune.

These wines are ready for you to enjoy now and carry the structure to evolve over time. As the season returns, it is a privilege to share the 2023 vintage with you and to welcome these wines to your table.

Warmly,
PABLO BOSCH, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
