Winemaker Letter
Spring in Burgundy is a season of renewal, when the vineyards awaken and their sense of place comes into sharp focus. For this season’s L’Ambassadeur allocation, I am pleased to share a collection from the 2023 vintage, drawn entirely from our estate vineyards at Château de la Crée. Shaped by a warm, dry growing season and careful stewardship in the vineyard, 2023 yielded beautifully concentrated fruit with remarkable purity and balance.
Situated mostly along the southern Côte de Beaune, our estate vineyards are defined by remarkable diversity in slope, soil, and exposure. These varied sites allow each wine to present a distinct perspective while remaining united by precision and harmony.
The 2023 vintage brought abundant yet carefully refined yields and full physiological maturity, resulting in wines of concentration, depth, and roundness. Chardonnay shows ripe orchard fruit, lifted citrus tones, and vibrant acidity with impressive persistence, while Pinot Noir reveals vivid red fruit, refined texture, and smooth, polished tannins framed by high-toned aromatics.
Each wine reflects our commitment to thoughtful farming, meticulous selection, and a restrained approach in the cellar that preserves the natural clarity and energy of the vintage. Together, these bottlings form a cohesive portrait of Château de la Crée, shaped by season, place, and time, and defined by both immediate charm and enduring structure.
It is a profound privilege to steward vineyards in this historic region. Burgundy has long been a source of inspiration for Domaine Serene, and our continued work at Château de la Crée represents a deepening connection to the land that first sparked Grace and Ken’s passion, now expressed through a vintage of exceptional depth, vitality, and lasting promise.
